Veterans

The Volunteer State is blessed to have so many veterans call Tennessee home.  We have a new generation of heroes that have kept us safe from terrorist threats in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Whether Active Duty, National Guard or Reserve, we owe them our best.

Since becoming Speaker of the Senate and Lt. Governor, I am pleased that we have made it easier for veterans of Afghanistan and Iraq to obtain lottery scholarships.  For our senior veterans, we have tightened accountability and oversight of veterans’ nursing homes.  They deserve the best possible care and I will fight to make sure they receive it.
